FAQ

Everything you need to know about TAGRA, tachograph obligations and how to get started.

Getting started
What is TAGRA and what does it do?
TAGRA is a Windows software for evaluating and archiving data from digital tachographs and driver cards. It automatically analyses driving times, breaks, rest periods and working time against EU 561/2006 and the Working Time Directive — and generates reports accepted by enforcement authorities.
How do I try TAGRA?
Download the installer from tdt.cz. Install and use the full software for up to 30 days with your real data. No registration, no credit card required. When you're ready to buy, select your version directly inside the software and pay online.
How do I buy TAGRA after the trial?
At the end of the trial — or whenever you're ready — open the licence menu inside the software, select the version that matches your number of vehicles (TAGRA 1, 2, 4, 6 or MAX for fleets; TAGRA Trucker for individual drivers), and pay online by QR code or bank transfer. Your licence is activated immediately.
What operating system does TAGRA require?
TAGRA runs on Windows. It is compatible with Windows 10 and Windows 11. No internet connection is required for daily use — internet is only needed to download the installer and receive updates.
Legal obligations
Who is legally required to evaluate tachograph data?
Under EU Regulation (EC) No 561/2006, all transport operators whose vehicles are subject to tachograph rules must regularly download, evaluate and archive tachograph data. This includes hauliers, bus operators and — from July 2026 — operators of vans (2.5–3.5 t) in international transport. Self-employed drivers are also responsible for their own driver card data.
How often must data be downloaded?
Driver cards must be downloaded at least every 28 days. The tachograph unit (vehicle) must be downloaded at least every 90 days. All downloaded data must be archived for a minimum of 1 year. TAGRA tracks deadlines and alerts you before they expire.
Does the obligation apply to vans from July 2026?
Yes. From 1 July 2026, the tachograph obligation extends to light commercial vehicles of 2.5–3.5 t used in international transport. Operators of such vehicles must install a digital tachograph and comply with the same download, evaluation and archiving requirements as heavier vehicles. TAGRA is fully ready for this obligation.
What are the fines for non-compliance?
Without a specialist evaluation solution, operators risk fines of up to €14,000 from the transport authority for tachograph violations — and up to €80,000 for violations of drivers' working time rules.
Software & data
How do I get data into TAGRA?
Data is loaded from the driver card (via a USB card reader or download key) and from the tachograph unit (via a handheld device connected to the vehicle). For fleets, the most common device is the Download Box II S. For individual drivers, a USB card reader is included with TAGRA Trucker.
What file formats does TAGRA support?
Tachograph data is most commonly stored as .DDD files. Some countries also use .C1B (driver card) and .V1B or ESM (vehicle unit). These files cannot be opened with a standard viewer — you need dedicated tachograph analysis software like TAGRA.
Does TAGRA support Generation 2 V2 (G2V2) smart tachographs?
Yes. TAGRA fully supports second-generation intelligent tachographs (G2V2), which have been mandatory for new vehicles since 2023. The software correctly processes data from these devices including extended position records.
Can TAGRA be installed on multiple computers?
Each licence is bound to one specific computer. If you need to move the software to a different machine, contact Truck Data Technology to arrange a licence transfer. Network versions (TAGRA 4, 6, MAX) support multiple workstations sharing a central database — contact us for details.
How do I know when a new version is available?
TAGRA notifies you automatically when a new version is available and guides you through the update installation.
Pricing & licensing
What does the annual licence fee cover?
The annual fee covers continued licensing, software updates and technical support. The first year is included in the purchase price. From year 2: €19/year (TAGRA Trucker), €19/year (TAGRA Trucker), €79/year (TAGRA 1–2), €99/year (TAGRA 4–6), or €139/year (TAGRA MAX), all excl. VAT.
Which version do I need?
For fleet operators: choose based on the number of vehicles — TAGRA 1 (1 vehicle), TAGRA 2 (2 vehicles), TAGRA 4 (up to 4), TAGRA 6 (up to 6) or TAGRA MAX (unlimited). For professional drivers managing their own driver card: TAGRA Trucker (includes USB card reader).
How is payment made?
Payment is made directly inside the software by QR code or online bank transfer. Your licence is issued and activated immediately after payment.
TAGRA Trucker — for professional drivers
Is the USB card reader included with TAGRA Trucker?
Yes. The USB driver card reader is included in the box with TAGRA Trucker. You can start reading your driver card immediately without buying anything extra.
Does TAGRA Trucker work offline?
Yes. TAGRA Trucker works fully offline. Internet is only needed to download the installer and receive updates.
Who is TAGRA Trucker designed for?
For professional truck and van drivers who want to keep track of their own driver card data — driving times, breaks and rest periods — and be ready for any roadside inspection. Especially useful for self-employed (owner-operator) drivers.
